About Us
Millery: A Family Heritage
Château de Millery has been the property of Thierry M since 1942, then of his daughter Blandine de Brier Manoncourt. While Thierry Manoncourt was in captivity (World War II), awaiting his return, his mother decided to use his officer’s pay to purchase this very well-located plot on the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion. It was an act of faith in the future.
Upon his return from war in 1947, Thierry Manoncourt, a trained agricultural engineer, perceives all the potential of the terroir and understands that this plot holds a unique character, deserving special attention. He dedicates himself to its development, applying his knowledge to reveal all its richness. Attached to every detail, he himself designs the label of Château de Millery, a sober and elegant design that spans decades and remains today the emblem of this vineyard.
Millery long remained Thierry Manoncourt’s secret garden and its wines were reserved for family and close friends. It remains today a confidential cuvée.
With an area of 0.8 hectares, it is now cultivated with the same rigor and philosophy as those applied to Château-Figeac. Faithful to the values transmitted by Thierry Manoncourt, the property is committed to a sustainable viticulture approach, integrating biocontrol practices to preserve the natural balance of the vineyard. Each vine is cultivated with meticulous attention, each intervention is designed to respect the harmony of the soil and promote the pure expression of the terroir. This approach, at the crossroads of tradition and innovation, allows to exalt all the finesse and complexity of this viticultural jewel, thus guaranteeing the sustainability and excellence of Château de Millery.
